Position Overview

This role is essential for delivering expert, patient-focused care within a telemetry unit in a regional healthcare setting in the Pacific Northwest. The Advanced Telemetry RN at the Clinical Nurse II level combines specialized skills and certifications to independently manage patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safety and optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Monitor patients with continuous cardiac telemetry, perform detailed assessments, respond to acute cardiac and neurological changes, administer medications including non-titratable drips, and develop individualized care plans. Act as a compassionate patient advocate and provide education to patients and families on medical conditions and lifestyle adjustments.
• Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean environment adhering to infection control and regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission and OSHA. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and report safety concerns promptly.
• Documentation: Accurately document all patient care activities and responses in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) following established standards.
• Professional Development and Leadership: Mentor new nurses and students, engage in continuing education, serve as a resource for telemetry best practices, and act as Relief Charge Nurse when needed.
• Emergency Preparedness: Respond swiftly and effectively to cardiac emergencies, utilizing advanced clinical skills.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in telemetry or equivalent intermediate care settings. Experience in post-procedure care including cardiac catheterization and pacemaker management is required.
• Skills: Proficiency in ECG interpretation, arrhythmia recognition, and management. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with strong teamwork and decision-making skills.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years of telemetry nursing experience may be considered.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current RN license valid in the region.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required for progressive care units; transitional nurses must obtain within six months.
• Preferred: Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) or Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN Adult) certification.

Successful candidates must pass physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
