Position Overview

This role supports emergency department staff by assisting registered nurses, physician assistants, and physicians with basic procedures and patient care. The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) provides compassionate care to patients across all age groups, including infants, children, and adults, within a busy regional hospital setting in the Pacific Northwest.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to unit safety and infection control protocols.
• Assist clinical staff with simple medical procedures and patient care tasks.
• Provide support with splinting, casting, and immobilizing patient extremities.
• Help transport patients to and from the emergency department as needed.
• Perform daily equipment checks and maintain logs to comply with healthcare regulatory standards.
• Support inventory management, including stocking and ordering supplies and equipment (voluntary).

Qualifications

• Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
• Basic computer proficiency preferred.
• Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting and pushing patients or equipment.
• Preferred: Minimum of 2 years experience working in an emergency department environment.

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.

Certifications

• Possession of a current EMT or Paramedic certificate is required upon hire.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider program is mandatory.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• For employees with prior CNA certification hired before 2020, maintain a minimum of 10 continuing education units annually related to the role.
