Position Overview

This role involves applying safe food handling practices along with infection control and sanitation standards to ensure the delivery of high-quality food service to patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include meal assembly, portion control, and food delivery, all while maintaining excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment adhering to unit safety and infection control protocols.
• Follow safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure food safety.
• Prepare and portion meals for patients and customers according to established guidelines.
• Deliver meal trays to patient rooms or designated areas as needed.
• Comply with all regulatory standards related to food preparation and service.

Qualifications

• Ability to measure liquids accurately for modified diets.
• Manual dexterity and coordination to handle trays and dishes efficiently.
• Knowledge of proper handling of cleaning chemicals and solutions.
• Completion of on-the-job training including dishwashing equipment operation and health standards.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to understand menus, recipes, and instructions.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
• Understanding of safe food handling and infection control practices.
• Effective communication with coworkers and supervisors.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Certification

Food Handler card required within six months of employment.

All new hires must successfully complete a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background check prior to starting work.

This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving communities in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.
