Position Overview

This role is essential for delivering expert, patient-focused care within a telemetry unit in a regional healthcare setting in the Pacific Northwest. The Advanced Telemetry RN at the Clinical Nurse II level combines specialized skills and certifications to provide autonomous, high-quality care while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Monitor patients requiring continuous cardiac observation, perform detailed assessments, respond swiftly to changes in cardiac rhythms and neurological status, administer medications including non-titratable drips, and develop individualized care plans. Act as a compassionate patient advocate and provide education to patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle adjustments.
• Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean environment adhering to infection control and regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission and OSHA. Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and report safety concerns promptly.
• Documentation: Accurately document all patient care activities, interventions, and responses in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) following established standards.
• Professional Development and Leadership: Mentor new graduate nurses, new hires, and students, support ongoing education, serve as a resource for telemetry best practices, and act as Relief Charge Nurse when needed.
• Emergency Preparedness: Respond promptly and effectively to cardiac emergencies, including arrhythmias and chest pain, utilizing advanced clinical skills.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of two years as a Registered Nurse in telemetry or an equivalent intermediate care setting. Transitional RN candidates should have two years in acute care or similar environments.
• Proficiency in ECG/EKG interpretation and arrhythmia management.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring quick decision-making and teamwork.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years of telemetry or equivalent intermediate care experience may be considered.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in the region.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required for progressive care units; transitional RNs must obtain within six months of hire.
• Preferred: Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) or Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN Adult) or equivalent.
