Position Overview

This role is essential for delivering exceptional patient-centered care within telemetry units across the Pacific Northwest region. The Advanced Telemetry RN at the Clinical Nurse II level combines specialized skills and certifications to independently manage patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safety and optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Monitor patients with continuous cardiac needs, perform detailed assessments, respond swiftly to changes in cardiac rhythms and neurological status, administer medications including non-titratable drips, and develop personalized care plans. Act as a compassionate patient advocate, providing education to patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle adjustments.
• Safety and Compliance: Maintain a clean, safe environment adhering to infection control and regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission and OSHA. Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and report safety concerns promptly.
• Documentation: Accurately record all patient care activities, interventions, and responses in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) following established patient care standards.
• Professional Development and Leadership: Mentor new graduate nurses, new hires, and students, fostering their growth. Engage in ongoing education and serve as a resource for best telemetry practices. Provide relief charge nurse support as needed.
• Emergency Preparedness: Respond promptly and effectively to cardiac emergencies, utilizing advanced clinical skills to manage arrhythmias and chest pain scenarios.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in telemetry or equivalent intermediate care settings. Transitional RN candidates should have two years in acute care or similar environments.
• Proficient in post-procedure care including cardiac catheterization, pacemaker insertion, and post-CABG monitoring.
• Strong skills in ECG/EKG interpretation and arrhythmia management.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-acuity settings requiring quick decision-making and teamwork.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years telemetry nursing experience may be considered.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current RN license valid in the relevant state.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required for progressive care units; transitional RNs must obtain within six months.
• Preferred: Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) or Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN Adult) or equivalent.
