Position Overview

This leadership role holds full accountability for delivering high-quality nursing care and managing operations within the assigned surgical unit. The Clinical Nurse Manager integrates and coordinates leadership, management, quality improvement, and clinical activities to ensure excellent patient care. Serving as a professional role model and mentor, this individual supports and guides nursing staff and healthcare team members with expertise and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment, including adherence to infection control standards.
• Lead and coordinate operational, clinical, and quality improvement efforts within the patient care department.
• Act as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members.
• Stay informed about regional healthcare issues and community standards, participating in strategic planning and implementation.
• Conduct staff performance evaluations and manage disciplinary processes in line with organizational policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support department and organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years clinical experience in a leadership capacity.
• At least two years of management experience within a clinical setting.

Education

• General Departments (excluding NICU):
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or related bachelor's degree required.
  • Master’s degree (MSN, MBA, MHA, or related leadership field) preferred.
• NICU Department:
  • Registered Nurse with Master’s degree in Nursing required, or
  • Registered Nurse with BSN plus a master’s degree or certificate in nursing/healthcare administration and at least three years clinical nursing experience including one year in NICU.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the relevant state required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required where applicable.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification required for Labor & Delivery, NICU, and Women’s/Newborn Services.
