This role is essential within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team, focusing on delivering compassionate, patient-centered care with advanced clinical skills. Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care:
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals to provide safe, timely, and equitable care tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Perform thorough assessments and develop personalized care plans.
  • Monitor patient responses and intervene promptly as necessary.
  • Advocate for patients, ensuring dignity and confidentiality.
  • Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and lifestyle changes.
  • Promote evidence-based ICU practices.
• Safety and Compliance:
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment adhering to infection control and regulatory standards.
  • Follow aseptic techniques and hospital policies rigorously.
  • Identify and report safety concerns, contributing to systemic improvements.
• Documentation:
  • Accurately record care activities, patient progress, and incidents in electronic medical records.
• Professional Development and Leadership:
  • Mentor new nurses and students, supporting their growth.
  • Engage in continuing education, certifications, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for best ICU practices.
  • Assume charge nurse and Rapid Response Team roles as needed.
• Emergency Preparedness:
  • Respond decisively and skillfully in critical situations such as cardiac arrest.

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in a high-acuity ICU or equivalent step-down critical care unit.
• Proven ability to manage complex patient cases.

Competencies

• Proficiency with advanced critical care equipment and technology.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and critical care pharmacology.
• Expertise in maintaining sterile procedural fields.
• Excellent critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills.
• Effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years ICU experience considered.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in the relevant state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) or equivalent preferred.
