Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to lead and inspire nursing staff in delivering exceptional, safe, and high-quality patient care. This role requires a dynamic leader who serves as a mentor, resource, and advocate while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence within the patient care unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, and infection-controlled environment within the unit.
• Engage with patients and families to uphold service excellence and address concerns promptly.
• Communicate professionally and effectively, resolving conflicts as they arise.
• Participate in policy development and promote evidence-based nursing practices.
• Ensure accountability for quality, operational, financial, and regulatory goals.
• Advocate for patients by coordinating care across healthcare disciplines.
• Collaborate with departments to optimize workflow and patient throughput.
• Assist in recruitment, selection, and retention of nursing personnel.
• Manage staffing schedules, ensuring appropriate personnel utilization based on competencies and patient needs.
• Lead or participate in quality improvement projects and attend relevant committees.
• Evaluate staff performance, provide coaching, and conduct appraisals.
• Contribute to budget development and monitor productivity standards.
• Promote a healthy work environment that minimizes occupational illness and injury.
• Demonstrate accountability for personal professional growth.
• Perform administrative duties such as pronouncing expired patients and fulfilling supervisory roles as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of Registered Nurse experience, including at least two years in acute care or a similar setting.
• At least one year of recent charge nurse or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of nursing scope of practice and individualized patient care planning.
• Ability to independently seek resources and collaborate effectively.
• Competent in assessing nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families.
• Proficient with computer systems and adaptable to new software.
• Capable of providing direct patient care.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with seven years of RN experience may be considered.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
• National certification in specialty area preferred.

Specialty Certifications

• Chemotherapy and biotherapy provider certification required within six months for oncology and progressive care units.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and NIH Stroke Scale certification required for monitored medical, telemetry, ICU, emergency, PACU, cardiac cath lab, and interventional radiology units.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) required for emergency department staff.
• Additional certifications such as MICN preferred for emergency department roles.
