Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to lead and inspire nursing staff in delivering exceptional, safe, and high-quality patient care within an emergency department setting. This leadership role requires a blend of clinical expertise, interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster a positive work environment while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment, including adherence to infection control protocols.
• Engage with patients and families to uphold service excellence standards and address concerns promptly to enhance patient satisfaction.
• Communicate effectively and professionally, providing conflict resolution and support to staff.
• Participate in nursing and organizational policy development, promoting shared accountability and evidence-based practice.
• Assume accountability for unit performance goals related to quality, operations, finance, and compliance.
• Advocate for patients by coordinating nursing care with multidisciplinary teams and facilitating integrated healthcare services.
• Collaborate with departments to optimize workflow, patient flow, and throughput.
• Support recruitment, selection, and retention efforts for nursing personnel.
• Assess and address ethical issues and respect individual patient rights and preferences.
• Manage staffing and scheduling to ensure appropriate personnel utilization based on competencies and patient care needs.
• Lead or participate in quality improvement projects and attend relevant committees.
• Evaluate staff performance, provide coaching, and conduct appraisals as needed.
• Contribute to budget development and monitor productivity standards.
• Promote a healthy work environment that minimizes occupational illness and injury.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth and development.
• Demonstrate knowledge of administrative supervisory roles and responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years as a Registered Nurse, including at least two years in acute care or a similar setting.
• At least one year of recent charge nurse or supervisory experience.
• Strong understanding of nursing scope of practice, nursing process, and individualized care planning.
• Ability to independently seek resources and collaborate effectively.
• Competent in assessing nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families.
• Proficient with computer systems and adaptable to new software.
• Capable of providing direct patient care.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with seven years of relevant RN experience may be considered.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of California.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• National certification in specialty area preferred.
• Required certifications vary by unit, including but not limited to ACLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Scale, ONS chemotherapy & biotherapy provider, and others as applicable.

Additional Requirements

Successful candidates must pass a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
