Position Overview

This role is essential for delivering expert, patient-focused care within a telemetry unit in a regional healthcare setting in the Pacific Northwest. The Advanced Telemetry RN at the Clinical Nurse II level combines specialized skills and certifications to independently manage patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safety and optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Monitor patients with continuous cardiac telemetry, perform detailed assessments, respond swiftly to changes in cardiac rhythms and neurological status, administer medications including non-titratable drips, and develop individualized care plans. Act as a compassionate patient advocate, providing education to patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle adjustments.
• Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean environment adhering to infection control and regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission and OSHA. Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and report safety concerns promptly.
• Documentation: Accurately document all patient care activities and responses in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) following established standards.
• Professional Development and Leadership: Mentor new graduate nurses, new hires, and students, support ongoing education, serve as a resource for telemetry best practices, and act as Relief Charge Nurse when needed.
• Emergency Preparedness: Respond promptly and effectively to cardiac emergencies, including arrhythmias and chest pain, utilizing advanced clinical skills.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in telemetry or equivalent intermediate care settings. Experience in post-procedure care such as post-cardiac catheterization, pacemaker insertion, and post-CABG is required. Proficiency in ECG interpretation and arrhythmia management is essential.
• Competencies: Skilled in centralized cardiac monitoring systems, strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Candidates with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and five years of telemetry nursing experience may be considered.
• Licenses: Current Registered Nurse license valid in the region.
• Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association, NIH Stroke Scale certification, and ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate (for Progressive Care Unit). Transitional RN candidates must obtain required certificates within six months of hire. Preferred certifications include Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) or Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN Adult).
