Position Overview

This role is for a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse at the Clinical Nurse II level, specializing in oncology care. The nurse will provide compassionate, patient-centered care with advanced clinical skills and certifications. This position requires autonomy, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and a commitment to patient safety and quality outcomes in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments to create tailored care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments, monitoring patient responses and intervening as necessary.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals to ensure timely and safe care delivery.
• Advocate for patients, maintaining dignity and confidentiality throughout care.
• Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and lifestyle changes.
• Promote evidence-based practices within the Medical-Surgical and Oncology units.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to infection control and regulatory standards.
• Document all patient care activities accurately in the Electronic Health Record system.
• Provide mentorship and preceptorship to new nurses and students, supporting their growth.
• Participate in ongoing education and quality improvement initiatives.
• Respond promptly and skillfully to patient emergencies, including rapid response situations.

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of two years as a Registered Nurse in a Medical-Surgical or equivalent setting.
• Experience managing diverse patient caseloads with common medical and surgical conditions.
• Oncology experience with chemotherapy administration is required.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring quick decision-making and teamwork.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years of relevant experience considered.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required.
• Orthopedic Nurses Certification (ONC) or Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification (CMSRN) preferred depending on unit assignment.
