Overview

As a Patient Care Unit Registered Nurse, you'll provide comprehensive inpatient nursing care within a highly respected Critical Access Hospital serving both local residents and visitors throughout Colorado's mountain communities.

Working twelve-hour night shifts, you'll function as a primary nurse caring for patients with a wide variety of medical conditions while collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation specialists, laboratory professionals, and case management.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse within the Patient Care Unit, you will:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care utilizing evidence-based practice
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing reassessments
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
• Monitor patient status and respond rapidly to changing clinical conditions
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Coordinate care across interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives
• Serve as the primary nurse for medical, surgical, and acute care patients
• Participate in continuing education and clinical competency development
• Foster compassionate, patient-centered relationships throughout every stage of care

Qualifications

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Colorado Registered Nurse license or eligibility to obtain prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition & Stabilization (PEARS) (may be obtained after hire)

Preferred Certifications:

• MEDSURG-BC
• PED-BC

Experience

• Minimum one year of Registered Nurse experience
• Acute care, Medical-Surgical, Progressive Care, Critical Access Hospital, or Emergency Department experience preferred

Preferred Skills

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

• Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment

• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records
