We are seeking a warm and organized Ambulatory Oncology Patient Representative to join our cancer services team in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest. This role involves a blend of secretarial duties and exceptional customer service to ensure oncology patients receive professional and compassionate care from check-in through follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service as the primary contact for oncology patients.
- Manage complex scheduling across multiple ancillary services such as labs and radiology with accuracy and timeliness.
- Handle patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently, coordinating follow-up appointments and referrals.
- Serve as a liaison between the cancer care team and other departments to facilitate smooth communication and coordination.
- Obtain and route test results promptly to appropriate parties.
- Maintain rapport with internal and external healthcare contacts, supporting a collaborative environment.
- Work effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and professionalism.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment while prioritizing tasks and problem-solving independently.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three years of experience in a medical clinic setting preferred.
- Experience in oncology preferred.
- Training in medical terminology is a plus.
- At least one year of secretarial experience preferred.
Skills and Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work autonomously.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Ability to manage routine problems and demonstrate flexibility in a changing environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Reliable attendance and willingness to participate in meetings as needed.
