We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team primarily in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) with occasional duties in One Day Surgery. This full-time role offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:30am to 5pm, providing an excellent opportunity to deliver exceptional patient care in a supportive environment within the Midwest region.

Job Overview

As an RN in PACU, you will be responsible for comprehensive nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care and education, while maintaining professional nursing standards and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and document patients’ physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs upon admission.
• Prioritize treatment plans based on medical and nursing diagnoses.
• Develop, implement, and adjust individualized interdisciplinary care plans involving patients and their families.
• Utilize available resources and consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
• Continuously reassess and document patient status and responses to interventions.
• Administer medications and IV therapy safely and accurately.
• Plan and coordinate discharge needs in collaboration with the care team and patient support system.
• Provide patient and family education tailored to their understanding of the disease process and treatment.
• Effectively manage workload to ensure timely and quality care delivery.
• Accurately transcribe and communicate physician orders.

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current Registered Nurse licensure valid in the state of Iowa or eligible to work there.
• Preferably two years of experience in surgical services.

Certifications and Requirements

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required within one year of hire.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter training at or within six months of hire.
• Compliance with all federal, state, and professional licensure and regulatory training requirements.
