Join a dedicated healthcare team as a Surgical Services Registered Nurse, providing exceptional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in a dynamic hospital environment. This role is essential in ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes throughout the surgical experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate patient status and critical information to interdisciplinary team members promptly.
• Accurately transcribe and relay physician orders, both oral and written.
• Anticipate surgical team needs to facilitate efficient procedures and minimize patient trauma.
• Support timely surgical schedules and collaborate closely with surgeons and anesthesiologists.
• Prepare and manage surgical equipment and supplies, adhering to aseptic and sterile techniques following AORN guidelines.
• Assist with anesthesia and special patient positioning during procedures.
• Conduct pre-operative assessments, complete surgical checklists, and prepare operating rooms.
• Provide safe postoperative care, including medication administration, IV therapy, and monitoring patient recovery.
• Assess and document physical, psychological, spiritual, and social patient needs upon admission.
• Educate patients and families on disease processes and treatment plans at an understandable level.
• Develop and implement individualized interdisciplinary care plans, adjusting as patient needs evolve.
• Engage in continuous learning about new surgical techniques and patient care advancements.
• Maintain accurate records, assist with inventory management, and support orientation of new staff.

Education and Certification

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current Registered Nurse licensure valid in the applicable state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications to be obtained within one year of employment.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter training within six months of start date.

Experience

• Preferably two years of experience in surgical nursing services.

• Compliance with all federal, state, and professional licensure and regulatory training standards.
