Join a dedicated healthcare team as a Surgical Services Registered Nurse, providing exceptional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in a dynamic hospital environment. This full-time, day-shift role involves collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes throughout the surgical process.

Key Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate patient status and pertinent information to interdisciplinary team members promptly.
• Accurately transcribe and relay physician orders, both oral and written.
• Anticipate surgical team needs to facilitate efficient procedures and minimize patient trauma.
• Participate in maintaining surgical schedules and ensuring timely starts.
• Understand anesthetic agents and assist with anesthesia as needed.
• Prepare and manage surgical equipment and supplies, adhering to aseptic and sterile techniques following AORN guidelines.
• Conduct pre-operative assessments, complete surgical checklists, and prepare operating rooms.
• Provide safe and effective post-operative care, including medication administration and IV therapy documentation.
• Assess and document patients’ physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs upon admission.
• Educate patients and families about disease processes and treatment plans at an appropriate level.
• Develop and implement individualized interdisciplinary care plans, continuously reassessing patient status.
• Assist with mentoring and orienting new staff members.
• Maintain accurate records, assist with inventory management, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current Registered Nurse licensure valid in the applicable state.
• Preferably two years of experience in surgical services.

Requirements

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per American Heart Association standards.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required within one year of hire.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter training within six months of employment.
• Compliance with all federal, state, and professional licensure and regulatory training requirements.
