Position Overview:
The Emergency Preparedness and Safety Coordinator leads the development and management of emergency management and safety programs. This role ensures comprehensive planning, budgeting, training, and programming aligned with regulatory standards to enhance emergency response capabilities.

Serving as a vital liaison with local, state, and federal agencies, the coordinator develops and implements hospital-wide emergency preparedness, fire safety, and community response plans. The goal is to strengthen the organization's ability to respond effectively to emergencies, manage incidents efficiently, and restore full operations promptly after adverse events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organize and oversee emergency preparedness and safety initiatives.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve emergency response and safety programs.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
• Assist in creating and enforcing safety policies, conduct inspections, and investigate incidents to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Work Schedule: Part-time, approximately 16 hours every two weeks, primarily during day shifts.

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include emergency management, business administration, public administration, fire administration, political science, or related disciplines.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) courses 100, 200, 300, 400 and National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses 700 and 800 is mandatory.
• Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) certification is preferred.
• Trainer certification for NIMS or ICS is a plus.

Experience and Requirements

• Proven experience in emergency preparedness and safety coordination.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and insurability under organizational insurance policies.
• Strong communication and organizational skills to collaborate effectively with multiple agencies and internal teams.
