Overview

As a Registered Nurse, you'll provide comprehensive patient care utilizing the full nursing process (i.e., assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation) to ensure exceptional clinical outcomes and an outstanding patient experience.

Working 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), you'll care for a diverse patient population while collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, rehabilitation specialists, laboratory professionals, respiratory therapists, and fellow nursing staff.

Unlike highly specialized urban facilities, this position offers broad clinical exposure, allowing you to strengthen your assessment skills, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making across multiple patient populations.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, you will:

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments utilizing the nursing process
• Complete thorough admission assessments, medication reconciliation, and full body system evaluations
• Develop individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs and physician treatment plans
• Deliver evidence-based nursing interventions that promote optimal patient outcomes
• Monitor, assess, and reassess patient conditions throughout hospitalization
• Perform hourly patient rounding to ensure safety, comfort, and quality care
• Assess and manage patient pain utilizing appropriate interventions and education
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, discharge planning, and self-care
• Coordinate interdisciplinary communication to ensure continuity of care
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes accurately within the electronic medical record
• Perform emergency nursing interventions when clinically indicated
• Maintain infection prevention standards and patient safety practices
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental excellence programs
• Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, accountability, and exceptional clinical judgment throughout every patient interaction

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Iowa Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Mandatory Dependent Adult and Child Abuse Reporter Training

Preferred Certifications:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

Experience

• Previous acute care nursing experience preferred
