Essential Functions

• Assess, plan, implement, and document individualized nursing care for patients across all age groups, including newborns and children in specialized units.
• Encourage patient independence by setting care goals and involving patients and families in discussions about medical conditions, testing, medications, and self-care techniques.
• Monitor patients’ physical, mental, and emotional status, reporting changes as necessary.
• Provide direct patient care and support as an integral member of the healthcare team.
• Mentor and train new staff and students to ensure high standards of care.
• Comply with privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Demonstrate unit-specific competencies within a reasonable orientation period and maintain ongoing proficiency.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program is required.
• BSN degree is strongly preferred.
• Previous nursing experience is advantageous.

Licensure and Certification

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the relevant state.
• Healthcare Provider BLS certification through AHA or ARC within 30 days of hire.

Additional Requirements for Surgical Services

• On-call availability for regular and holiday shifts in specific surgical units with defined response times.
