The Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care to patients under the guidance of physicians and nursing staff.

Essential Responsibilities: This position requires timely and accurate documentation in accordance with healthcare policies. You will demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care across a wide patient age range, from newborns to geriatrics, following unit-specific competencies and procedures. Upholding patient privacy and security regulations is critical, as is maintaining professional communication with patients, families, healthcare teams, and external agencies.

General Duties: Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. This role does not include people management duties.

Education and Experience: Candidates must hold certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) within the state of Kansas or possess equivalent experience such as early nursing school training.

Licenses and Certifications: A current BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider is required within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation. Successful completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, instrument care, EKG, and phlebotomy is also necessary.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a medical environment and certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) through ASCP are advantageous.

Skills and Abilities: Basic to moderate computer skills, especially for telesitter duties, effective communication, medical terminology knowledge, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential. Compassion and empathy are key qualities for patient care.

Physical Requirements: This role involves very heavy work, including occasional lifting over 100 lbs and frequent standing or walking for most of the day. Accommodations may be considered.
