This role involves direct patient care and supportive tasks under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, emphasizing safety and effective communication. Essential Functions by Specialty

• Medical Patient Care Technician (PCT-Medical): Provides individualized care including vital signs monitoring, assisting with hygiene and mobility, specimen collection, and maintaining cleanliness and safety protocols. Serves patients from newborn to geriatric stages.
• Emergency Department (PCT-ED): Performs nurse assistant duties, phlebotomy, EKG testing, specimen collection, and maintains phlebotomy supplies. Requires on-the-job phlebotomy training.
• Intensive Care Unit (PCT-ICU): Supports nursing staff as assistant, unit clerk, and monitor technician. Recognizes and reports cardiac rhythm changes after completing arrhythmia training.
• Imaging (PCT-Imaging): Assists imaging technologists by preparing patients and rooms, transporting patients, and maintaining equipment and supplies. Observes and reports patient conditions.
• Obstetrics (PCT-OB): Performs scrubbing for deliveries and tubal ligations, assists with circumcisions, prepares delivery suites, supports RN in obstetrical care, and conducts newborn hearing and state-mandated screenings.
• Telesitter: Provides continuous video observation, verbal redirection, and alerts nursing staff as needed.

Education and Experience

• Completion of one of the following: nurse assistant training program, six months nurse assistant experience, EMT or Advanced EMT experience, or first semester nursing school clinical with basic skills.
• Preferred: One year acute care nurse assistant experience, CNA certification, Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification.

Licenses and Certifications

• Healthcare Provider BLS certification through AHA or ARC required before start date.
