Essential Functions

• Assess, plan, implement, and document personalized nursing care for patients ranging from newborns to children, including those in emergency, labor/delivery, and pediatric units.
• Encourage patient independence by setting care goals and involving patients and families in discussions about medical issues, testing, medications, and self-care.
• Monitor patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions, reporting changes promptly.
• Provide direct patient care and support as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Mentor and train new staff and students to uphold high standards of care.
• Adhere to privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Demonstrate unit-specific competencies within a reasonable orientation period and maintain ongoing proficiency.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program is required.
• BSN degree is strongly preferred.

Licensure and Certification

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the relevant state.
• Healthcare Provider BLS certification through AHA or ARC within 30 days of hire.
