This role involves working closely under physician guidance to provide comprehensive patient care, mentor new staff and students, and perform nursing duties within the scope of practice defined by licensing boards.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate patient needs, maintaining detailed care plans.
• Promote patient independence by setting care goals and involving patients and families in medical discussions.
• Administer and manage medications accurately and timely.
• Educate patients and families on physical, emotional, and psychosocial care aspects, including disease processes and symptom management.
• Document patient care thoroughly and promptly according to policy.
• Observe and report changes in patients’ physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual conditions.
• Maintain compliance with privacy regulations and foster effective communication with patients, families, healthcare teams, and external agencies.

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Experience

Previous experience in a similar healthcare environment is preferred but not mandatory.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in a compact state.
• Current BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider within 30 days of hire or by orientation end.
• Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIHSS, or AWHONN may be required depending on department policy.

Skills and Abilities

Strong communication skills, ability to multitask and prioritize, basic computer proficiency, and a solid foundation in nursing principles.

Physical Requirements

Occasional heavy lifting up to 100 lbs and frequent standing or walking (51-75% of the day) with or without accommodation.
