Join a dynamic healthcare finance team as the Assistant Vice President of Finance, overseeing multiple finance and accounting functions within a regional medical organization. This role is essential for establishing internal controls to monitor assets, capital investments, control costs, and measure liquidity. You will serve as a key liaison with senior leadership on monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, summarizing the financial status and interpreting key metrics such as asset ratios, break-even analysis, and operating costs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with operations, marketing, HR, IT, and other departments regarding budget approvals and ROI for projects.
- Prepare for audits ensuring financial reporting complies with applicable regulations including GAAP, FASB, and SEC mandates.
- Stay informed about changes in healthcare reimbursement models and regulatory environments relevant to the Midwest region.
- Develop and maintain financial models and tools to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Provide in-depth financial analysis including budget-to-actual variance, service line profitability, and capital project ROI.
- Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for financial and operational improvements.
- Maintain compliance with privacy and security regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Foster effective communication and professional relationships with team members, contractors, physicians, and external agencies.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field required.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in financial decision support or related roles.
- Experience with healthcare systems or familiarity with regional financial regulations is highly valued.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications such as CPA or CMA.
- Healthcare industry experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, cost accounting, and statistical analysis.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data effectively to leadership.
- Proven leadership and mentorship capabilities fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Familiarity with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards related to finance.
Physical Requirements: Light work with occasional exertion up to 25 lbs and frequent exertion up to 10 lbs. Standing or walking 11-25% of the day.
