Job Details

We are seeking a dedicated Admitting Specialist to join our team in a regional healthcare facility serving the Southern United States. This role involves warmly welcoming patients, conducting interviews, and registering them efficiently while adhering to all applicable EMTALA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and register patients with a positive and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Enter patient data accurately into the system, including emergency room arrivals, to ensure proper identification and consent for treatment.
  • Serve as a liaison between medical and nursing staff and patients or their families, facilitating communication and coordination.
  • Maintain punctuality and reliability by attending scheduled shifts consistently.
  • Manage the hospital switchboard, directing calls as necessary.
  • Coordinate payment arrangements, collect deposits, and assist patients in accessing financial aid or transportation services when needed.
  • Refer uninsured patients to Medicaid eligibility screening specialists.
  • Verify insurance eligibility details, including payor information, policy numbers, group numbers, and patient relationships.
  • Confirm that patient procedures have the required authorizations and document approvals accurately.
  • Ensure registration data is complete and up to date, including insurance and accommodation codes, with detailed notes on each account.
  • Assist with patient transport after appropriate training.
  • Process in-house transfers and service code changes accurately in the system.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the organization's mission and values.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in medical administration or healthcare preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in patient registration, admissions, or a related healthcare administrative role is highly desirable.

Requirements: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, ability to handle sensitive information confidentially, and proficiency with healthcare information systems.
