Join a dedicated surgical team as an ASCP Certified Surgical Technologist, where your expertise ensures smooth and safe surgical procedures in a dynamic operating room environment. This role involves preparing the surgical suite with all necessary instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment well ahead of scheduled procedures, typically at least 15 minutes prior, unless otherwise directed by the circulating nurse or surgical director.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare patient skin appropriately for surgical treatment.
• Participate actively in surgical TIME OUT protocols to ensure patient safety; halt procedures if a TIME OUT is not called.
• Handle and care for surgical specimens with precision and accuracy.
• Perform meticulous counts of instruments, sponges, and needles before, during, and after procedures, addressing discrepancies immediately.
• Maintain strict medical and surgical asepsis throughout treatments and procedures.
• Follow aseptic techniques when opening sterile supplies and setting up for surgeries.
• Execute technical and manual skills under the guidance of circulating RNs and surgeons.
• Manage instruments and equipment during all operative phases.
• Collaborate with the operating room nursing team to maintain equipment and supply readiness.
• Complete all required documentation accurately and timely within each shift.
• Make informed decisions within the scope of practice, demonstrating sound judgment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational values and mission.

Other Essential Functions:

• Complete all assigned education, competencies, and training by designated deadlines.
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality, including participation in department meetings.
• Promote a culture of safety by adhering to safety guidelines and promptly reporting any incidents.
• Comply with all relevant codes of conduct, policies, state and federal laws, and regulatory standards such as TJC, OSHA, HIPAA, CMS, and DHH.
• Deliver excellent customer service internally and externally, fostering teamwork with a positive attitude and professionalism.
• Use only approved cleaning agents following manufacturer instructions to maintain a safe environment.

Education and Experience:

Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program and certification through ASCP or equivalent is required. Prior experience in an operating room setting is highly valued to ensure familiarity with surgical protocols and equipment.
