Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic ultrasound examinations across a range of anatomical areas using specialized sonography equipment and evidence-based technique
• Prepare patients thoroughly for each procedure -- explaining what to expect, answering questions, and prioritizing comfort and safety throughout
• Position patients accurately and apply transducer gel to obtain high-resolution images of targeted anatomy
• Operate real-time ultrasound systems to acquire diagnostic-quality still images and video clips
• Critically assess image quality against established diagnostic criteria and document findings with precision in the patient record
• Partner with radiologists and other clinical team members to review sonographic findings and support the diagnostic and treatment planning process
• Maintain complete, confidential patient records in compliance with applicable privacy regulations
• Follow all departmental protocols, radiation and ultrasound safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• College coursework directed toward ARDMS Board certification preferred
• Prior hands-on clinical ultrasound experience in a hospital setting preferred

Licensure & Certifications

• Required: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) Board Certification
• Required: BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)
• Preferred: ARRT (R) credential and Vermont State Radiologic Technician license

Experience

• Prior clinical ultrasound experience in a hospital or acute care environment preferred
• New graduates with ARDMS certification are eligible and welcome to apply
