Job Summary: Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care within a supportive environment that emphasizes best practices and exceptional customer service. This role fosters relationship-based care and upholds professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, Nursing Process, and regulatory agency requirements.

Assessment – All Ages/Stages: Conduct thorough assessments and reassessments, identifying physical, psychosocial, cultural, religious, safety, infection control, and environmental factors relevant to patient education. Utilize information from patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote health maintenance, restoration, and education. Apply advanced assessment skills tailored to medical and nursing needs, adapting teaching methods to the learning abilities of patients and their significant others. Document and interpret findings according to education protocols and checklists, responding appropriately to patient conditions and lab results. Collaborate with leadership on education budget needs and maintain up-to-date educational resources and materials.

Planning – All Ages/Stages: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized teaching and discharge plans incorporating pharmacological, dietary, and therapy interventions. Adjust teaching plans based on patient and family feedback as well as physical and emotional changes. Facilitate outpatient education sessions as needed.

Implementation – All Ages/Stages: Adhere to OSHA regulations and safety protocols, including exposure categories, fire, disaster, and hazardous waste procedures. Document patient and family education thoroughly using multidisciplinary forms, narrative notes, and teaching checklists. Communicate significant patient changes and education outcomes with physicians and healthcare teams. Serve as a liaison for patient education and a resource for public and community education programs. Verify medication and treatment orders, schedule outpatient programs, and assist with community outreach as requested.

Education and Experience Required:
1. Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
2. Proficiency with computer systems is necessary.

Licensure and Certifications:
1. Current active Registered Nurse licensure by the appropriate state board.
2. Area-specific education and certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications are required and maintained upon hire.

Work Shift: 1st Shift, part-time, approximately 16 hours bi-weekly.

Location: Serving patients in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
