Job Summary: This role involves providing direct and delegated patient care within a clinical setting. The Medical Assistant maintains awareness of normal and abnormal patient parameters to identify those at risk, delivering care aligned with established standards and guidelines. Responsibilities include responding to telephone inquiries with appropriate triage, offering reassurance, accurate education, and clear directions to patients.

Efficient healthcare delivery throughout patient visits is essential. Duties include ensuring medical records are complete, accurate, and up to date; initiating patient contact; preparing patients for examinations; and obtaining vital signs such as weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, history, and chief complaints. The Medical Assistant observes abnormal signs, communicates findings to the physician, and documents all relevant information in the medical record. Patient understanding of physician instructions upon discharge is confirmed, and charge information is entered into electronic medical records for billing purposes.

Assisting with testing and treatment procedures under physician supervision is a key function. This includes applying splints and dressings, following physician orders, managing sample medications and logs, arranging necessary patient testing or admissions, obtaining referrals, retrieving test results, and notifying patients. The Medical Assistant also supports minor surgeries and physicals preparation, secures consents for invasive procedures or immunizations, distributes educational materials, and ensures patient comprehension regarding treatments and medications. Laboratory tests and treatments are performed as prescribed, with maintenance of laboratory logs.

Maintaining clinical areas, equipment, and supplies is critical. The Medical Assistant ensures exam rooms are stocked, clean, organized, and compliant with cleaning protocols. Sterilization of instruments and proper functioning of equipment are monitored. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Education and Experience Required:
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant or Nursing Program.
