Job Summary: This role supports patients, staff, and third-party payers by efficiently managing Patient Access and Revenue Cycle responsibilities. The position involves various duties such as operating the switchboard, emergency department registration, and patient greeting.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Conducts pre-registration for all patient types, ensuring no duplicate medical record or account numbers are created. Tasks include collecting demographic and insurance details via phone or during pre-procedure visits, entering data into systems, and preparing patient packets.
• Manages patient registrations by scanning insurance cards, verifying and entering demographic and insurance information, assembling necessary documentation, coordinating room assignments with nursing or bed control units, obtaining required signatures, and guiding patients to appropriate departments.
• Follows up on special cases such as infectious patients and provides patients with informational brochures about their rights and responsibilities.
• Completes Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaires and ensures accurate registration edits before forwarding information to billing.
• Handles patient transfers and discharges, and performs follow-up on signatures and Medicaid eligibility.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or in progress, with a focus on office skills.
• Vocational training or on-the-job experience in computer operations and switchboard management is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare business office procedures is beneficial.

This position operates on a 4th shift schedule within a regional healthcare setting in the Midwest.
