Job Summary: This Physician Assistant role is designed to extend and support the Physician's responsibilities by delivering patient-centered evaluations and communications. The PA provides care for designated patients under the supervision and collaboration of a Physician, adhering strictly to applicable state regulations governing Physician Assistant practice. All medical record entries and orders require subsequent Physician authentication, and inpatient evaluations by the Physician must occur at least once every 24 hours. Procedures are supervised directly by a Physician unless documented competency and approval exist.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Operate with significant autonomy using strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in both acute care and clinic environments.
a. Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of patients and families, including health histories, physical exams, and health risk factor analysis.
b. Order and interpret laboratory, radiographic, bedside records, and other clinical data relevant to patient diagnoses.
c. Establish medical diagnoses.
d. Order and assess diagnostic studies.
e. Perform and monitor therapeutic procedures.
f. Document historical, physical, assessment, and plan information in medical records.
2. Collaborate with Physicians, nursing, and other healthcare professionals to evaluate and guide individualized patient care.
3. Prescribe and regulate medications in accordance with written physician agreements and prescriptive authority requirements.
4. Perform and document History and Physical examinations for admissions, observations, consultations, or clinic visits.
5. Conduct daily bedside evaluations and record progress notes for Physician review (inpatient only).
6. Prepare discharge paperwork, including summaries, prior to or on the day of patient discharge.
7. Write admitting, daily, and discharge orders appropriate to patient condition and care plans (inpatient only).
8. Foster teamwork with Physicians to ensure efficient care delivery.
9. Maintain effective communication with patients and their families.
10. Communicate regularly with referring Physicians and support staff such as nursing and rehabilitative services.
11. Meet daily or as needed with Physicians to review evaluations and care plans.
12. Participate in quality, safety, and utilization studies to enhance patient care quality and cost-effectiveness.
13. Alert Physicians to acute patient status changes, critical lab values, or radiographic findings for timely intervention.
14. Comply with medical staff rules, regulations, and health information management policies to ensure accurate medical records.
15. Prepare and submit billing materials promptly.
16. Share on-call duties with Physician backup as applicable.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Prior experience as a Physician Assistant is preferred.
- Commitment to ongoing continuing medical education.

Licensure and Certifications:
- Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Licensed to practice in the relevant state.

Work Shift: First shift, full-time, 40 hours per week.
