Job Summary: Provide comprehensive health support to students, minimizing absences due to illness and fostering a healthy, supportive school environment. Facilitate learning by addressing health-related barriers and promoting overall well-being. Guide and support licensed practical nurses and non-licensed staff as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Fiscal Responsibility: Efficiently manage supplies and equipment, streamline processes to reduce waste, and complete duties promptly while documenting hours accurately. Participate in scheduled education and maintain proper documentation.
• Quality Care: Deliver quality triage, treatment, and first aid for students. Stay current with regional health board standards and policies. Utilize critical thinking, multitasking, and delegation skills. Develop Individualized Healthcare Plans when necessary.
• Patient Satisfaction: Communicate effectively and compassionately with students, school staff, and parents. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Support students' specific healthcare needs and help remove health barriers to learning.
• Patient Safety: Follow universal precautions, ensure safe medication administration, and maintain accurate records. Educate students and parents on health matters and ensure immunizations and testing are up to date. Train school personnel on student health protocols.
• Professional Growth: Maintain competency through routine substitute work. Demonstrate leadership and serve as a role model. Engage in professional development activities such as conferences, webinars, and professional organizations.
• Customer Service: Uphold high customer service standards, address ethical concerns, and embody nursing mission and values. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. Provide holistic care to diverse student populations and support future healthcare professionals.

Education and Experience Required:

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with an Associate in Nursing Degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire.
• At least two years of experience in health care related to school-age children or school nursing preferred.
• Current BLS certification and computer proficiency required.
• Area-specific education requirements must be obtained upon hire and maintained.

Licensure/Certifications: Active Registered Nurse license as required by the regional nursing board.
