Job Summary: This Physician Assistant role is designed to extend and support physician services by delivering patient-centered evaluations and care. The PA collaborates closely with physicians, providing care under their supervision while adhering to state regulations governing PA practice. Medical record entries and orders require physician authentication, and inpatient evaluations by the physician of record occur at least every 24 hours. Procedures are supervised directly by physicians unless competency is documented.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Operate autonomously using strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in both acute care and clinic settings.
• Conduct thorough patient and family assessments, including health histories, physical exams, and risk evaluations.
• Order and interpret laboratory, radiographic, bedside, and other clinical data relevant to patient diagnoses.
• Establish medical diagnoses and order diagnostic studies.
• Perform and monitor therapeutic procedures, documenting all findings and plans in the medical record.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and other healthcare professionals to tailor individualized patient care.
• Prescribe and regulate medications per physician agreements and prescriptive authority laws.
• Complete history and physical exams for admissions, observations, consultations, or clinic visits.
• Perform daily bedside evaluations and document progress notes for physician review (inpatient).
• Prepare discharge paperwork and summaries timely for assigned patients.
• Write admitting, daily, and discharge orders appropriate to patient conditions (inpatient).
• Foster teamwork and efficient care delivery through effective communication with patients, families, referring physicians, and support staff.
• Participate in quality, safety, and utilization studies to enhance patient care and cost-effectiveness.
• Alert physicians promptly to acute patient status changes or critical findings.
• Comply with medical staff rules, regulations, and health information management policies to ensure accurate records.
• Prepare and submit billing materials promptly.
• Share on-call duties with physician backup as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Previous PA work experience preferred.
• Commitment to ongoing continuing medical education.

Licensure and Certifications:

• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Licensed to practice in the relevant state.

Work Shift: 1st Shift, 40 hours per week.
