Job Summary: Provide essential clinical support in the operating room, assisting anesthesia providers, surgeons, and team members with procedural tasks to ensure smooth surgical operations. Maintain high standards of instrument processing and sterile technique in accordance with industry guidelines.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and management of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with sterilization protocols and safety standards.
• Adapt to fluctuating department activity by prioritizing tasks effectively and managing supplies judiciously.
• Support nursing staff by obtaining specialized supplies promptly to maintain uninterrupted patient care.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to update and optimize instrument sets and preference cards as technology evolves.
• Maintain a professional, calm environment, minimizing noise and promoting excellent patient and visitor relations.
• Ensure patient safety by adhering to HIPAA, verifying sterile field integrity, and promptly reporting any breaches.
• Participate in ongoing professional development, sharing knowledge with peers and contributing to departmental goals.
• Foster strong relationships with physicians, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to enhance teamwork and patient flow.

Education and Certification

Must hold current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or be a licensed practical nurse (LPN) with appropriate state licensure.

Experience and Requirements

Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced surgical environment. Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential. Flexibility with shift assignments and a team-oriented attitude are highly valued.
