Job Summary: Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care in a setting that champions best practices and exceptional customer service. Assessment

Conduct thorough assessments and reassessments across all age groups, identifying physical, psychosocial, cultural, religious, safety, infection control, and environmental factors relevant to patient education. Utilize information from patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote health, maintenance, and restoration. Apply advanced unit-specific assessment skills to address medical and nursing needs. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate learning abilities of patients and their significant others. Document and interpret findings according to education protocols and checklists, responding appropriately to patient conditions and lab results.

Planning

Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop individualized teaching and discharge plans incorporating pharmacological, dietary, and therapy interventions. Adjust teaching plans based on patient and family feedback as well as physical and emotional changes. Prepare patients and families for outpatient education as needed.

Implementation

Adhere to OSHA regulations and safety principles in daily practice, including exposure categories, fire, disaster, and hazardous waste protocols. Document patient and family education thoroughly using multidisciplinary forms, narrative notes, and teaching checklists. Communicate significant patient changes and education responses to physicians. Verify medication and treatment orders, schedule outpatient programs, and serve as a liaison between patients and medical staff. Support community education initiatives when requested.

Education and Experience

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
• Proficiency with computer systems is necessary.

Licensure and Certifications

• Active Registered Nurse licensure by the appropriate state board is required.
• Area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications must be obtained upon hire and maintained.

Work Shift: 1st Shift, part-time, approximately 16 hours bi-weekly.

Location: Serving patients in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
