Job Summary: Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care within a surgery unit that exemplifies best practices and outstanding customer service. This role fosters relationship-based care and upholds professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, Nursing Process, and regulatory agency requirements. The acute care environment includes medical, surgical, emergency, intensive care, pediatric, and perioperative settings.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Apply clinical expertise to make appropriate patient care assignments based on acuity and technical needs.
• Engage in ongoing education to implement evidence-based practices and promote cost-saving initiatives.

• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare teams to manage expectations and enhance the patient experience.
• Maintain a therapeutic environment by minimizing noise and supporting healthcare students and programs.

• Participate in leadership development, certification programs, and shared governance opportunities to foster professional growth.

Education and Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or equivalent experience with at least five years of acute care nursing if from a non-accredited program.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire; enrollment in an accelerated MSN program is acceptable.
• Completion and maintenance of area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications.

Licensure:

Current active Registered Nurse license as required by the state nursing board.

Work Environment:

Full-time, first shift position within a healthcare facility located in a regional area of the Midwest United States.
