Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, staff, and the broader community within a healthcare setting in the Midwest region. This role requires sensitivity to diverse religious, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, ensuring respectful and personalized care.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Support the mission, values, and strategic vision of the Chaplaincy Department through a collegial and collaborative approach.
• Deliver pastoral care focused on the spiritual and emotional needs of patients, families, staff, and the wider community.
• Communicate effectively and promptly with patients and healthcare staff.
• Facilitate support groups and provide or arrange for appropriate religious rites upon request.
• Maintain accurate records of pastoral care activities, adhering to professional and departmental documentation standards.
• Oversee specific departmental programs and collaborate with colleagues to implement services.
• Participate in bereavement services and contribute to enhancing the visibility of spirituality in the workplace through written devotions and communications.
• Assist patients and families in understanding and executing Advanced Medical Directives.
• Engage in patient rounds and care conferences, offering insights into spiritual dynamics relevant to patient care.
• Attend staff meetings, perform administrative duties, and fulfill other assigned responsibilities.

Education and Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Master of Divinity degree or equivalent from an accredited seminary or university.
• Ordination and ecclesiastical endorsement from the appropriate religious body.
• Minimum of 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required; 4 units including a 1-year residency preferred.
• Board eligibility by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) required; Clinical Membership in ACPE preferred.

Experience:

• At least 5 years of parish-based ministry experience preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a healthcare-related field preferred.

Work Schedule: Varied shifts on an as-needed basis.
