Job Summary: This role supports the daily operations of clinical areas, fostering positive relationships with physicians, staff, and patients while upholding professional and clinical standards to ensure safe, ethical, and high-quality patient care.
Essential Responsibilities:
Fiscal Responsibility
Efficiently manages time to complete operational duties, including staff coordination, productivity monitoring, and handling unexpected events. Collaborates with leadership to develop flexible schedules, manages position control, and oversees transfers. Utilizes automated systems to verify employee hours, monitor overtime, and arrange coverage for absences. Contributes to budget preparation, monitors expenses to reduce variances, and approves supply purchases within authority.
Quality
Acts as a unit leader in the director's absence and participates in hiring processes. Assists with performance evaluations, provides constructive feedback, and maintains disciplinary documentation. Communicates clearly with physicians, ancillary services, and staff. Engages in continuous quality improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards. Oversees chart reviews and data collection for reporting and system updates.
Patient Satisfaction
Promotes rounding, timely responses, service recovery, and staff recognition to enhance patient experience. Encourages relationship-based care involving patients and their families or representatives. Ensures patient rights are respected throughout their care journey. Participates in community health awareness and educational events.
Patient Safety
Maintains communication channels for reporting issues and collaborates on problem assessments. Develops and updates policies based on evidence-based practices, ensuring accurate patient handoffs. Monitors staff adherence to safety protocols and provides education as needed.
Professional Growth
Embraces self-directed learning and constructive feedback to improve practice. Actively participates in professional organizations and educational opportunities. Supports staff development through certifications, higher education, and mandatory training. Facilitates orientation, mentoring, and competency assessments.

Education and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or specialty degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years in leadership roles; management experience preferred.
Licensure and Certifications
- Active Registered Nurse license as required by the regional nursing board.
- Certification in area of expertise within 2 years or as discipline requires.
Work Shift
First shift, full-time (40 hours per week).
Location: Regional healthcare facility in the Midwest United States.
