Essential Responsibilities:

Assessment

• Conduct comprehensive, age-specific assessments and reassessments.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to gather complete medical histories and document findings per unit policy.

Diagnosis

• Identify actual or potential physical, psychosocial, cultural, religious, safety, infection control, environmental, and educational needs.
• Prioritize patient care based on assessment data.
• Interpret findings to prepare tailored patient and family care and education plans.

Planning/Outcome

• Work with healthcare team members to develop and adjust individualized care and discharge plans.
• Create education plans grounded in standards of care to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Revise plans based on patient condition changes and input from patients and families.

Implementation

• Deliver age-appropriate care aligned with established plans and patient priorities.
• Apply evidence-based interventions specific to diagnoses.
• Utilize community resources to support care plans and coordinate access.
• Collaborate with caregivers to ensure cohesive plan execution.

Evaluation

• Assess effectiveness of respiratory interventions and patient responses.
• Adjust care plans based on evaluations and feedback.
• Evaluate patient and family understanding and response to education.

Education and Experience Required:

• Graduate of a CoARC-accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Associate Degree or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Licensure and Certifications:

• Obtain Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care within one year of hire and maintain active status.
• Hold active Respiratory Care Provider license from the relevant state health bureau.

Work Shift: Night shift (3rd shift), 36 hours weekly in a regional healthcare setting in the Midwest.
