Job Summary: This role supports patients, staff, and third-party payers by efficiently managing Patient Access and Revenue Cycle responsibilities with accuracy and care.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Handle pre-registration for all patient types, ensuring no duplicate medical record or account numbers are created. This includes collecting demographic and insurance details via phone or during pre-procedure visits, entering data into systems, and preparing patient-specific packets.
• Manage patient registrations by scanning insurance cards, verifying and entering demographic and insurance information, assembling necessary paperwork, coordinating room assignments with nursing units or bed control, obtaining required signatures, and guiding patients to the appropriate departments.
• Follow up on special diagnosis cases, such as infectious patients, and provide all patients with informational brochures about their rights and responsibilities.
• Complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaires and ensure registrations are accurately reviewed before billing.
• Process patient transfers and discharges, and follow up on Medicaid eligibility and required signatures.
• Serve as PBX operator when needed, managing switchboard operations, public announcements, emergency codes, paging, and communication with physicians and hospital personnel.
• Maintain on-call schedules, document communications using Lotus Notes, troubleshoot phone and pager equipment, and relay important information to relevant parties.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational training or relevant on-the-job experience with computer systems and switchboard operations is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare business office procedures is beneficial.
