Job Summary: Support nursing practice and care delivery through a blend of direct patient assistance, communication, client care support, and clerical duties in a patient- and family-centered environment that exemplifies best practices and outstanding customer service.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Fiscal Responsibility: Complete assignments within delegated timeframes. Manage transportation and report equipment issues, maintain cleanliness and restock supplies, assist with operating room turnover, and handle equipment docking.
- Time and Supply Management: Use time efficiently, organize supplies and equipment, and support operating room readiness.
- Staffing and Scheduling: Notify at least two hours before shift if unable to work, comply with scheduling policies, seek approvals for time off, and adhere to work hours and break times.
- Quality: Collaborate as a team player in continuous quality improvement activities, apply common sense in patient care considering age and diagnosis, suggest improvements for patient experience, and stay current with policies.
- Patient Satisfaction: Advocate for patient rights, enhance patient comfort and cooperation, and communicate strategies to improve care satisfaction.
- Patient Safety: Ensure complete documentation before patient transport, verify patient identity and special needs, assist with safe patient transfers, communicate effectively with nursing staff, and respond promptly to changes or emergencies.
- Professional Growth: Recognize personal limitations and seek assistance, share knowledge through orientation and cross-training, demonstrate leadership, identify learning needs, and participate in departmental goals and in-services.
- Customer Service: Uphold high customer service standards, address ethical issues, promote teamwork, engage patients and families using AIDET communication, and maintain a professional, quiet environment.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Area-specific education may be required upon hire and must be maintained.
Work Shift: First shift, full-time, 40 hours per week in a regional healthcare setting in the Midwest.
