Job Summary: Provide essential support to physicians and advanced providers in delivering patient care for episodic visits related to minor illnesses, injuries, or routine evaluations at an Immediate Care facility. The Radiology Technologist (RT) is responsible for obtaining diagnostic digital images, assisting with patient registration and discharge, data collection, treatment planning, patient education, follow-up, and supporting daily clinic operations under the guidance of an RN or provider.

Essential Responsibilities:

Registration/Discharge

• Expertly use current computer systems (Meditech, EMR, PACS) to facilitate patient care documentation and planning.
• Collect and verify insurance cards and photo identification.
• Review diagnosis codes and procedural terminology for accuracy after each patient encounter.
• Ensure billing accuracy post-visit.
• Discuss plan of care with patients prior to discharge.
• Manage telephone communications in collaboration with providers or nursing staff.

Clinical Duties

• Prepare patients for examinations based on their chief complaints.
• Immediately notify RN or provider of urgent or emergent patient arrivals for prompt assessment.
• Collect and document initial patient data in the electronic medical record following clinic policies.
• Assist in scheduling diagnostic procedures or appointments for further care.
• Obtain necessary authorizations for diagnostic testing such as PT, MRI, or Ultrasound.

Diagnostic Testing and Treatment

• Initiate tests and treatments as delegated or per established protocols.
• Produce high-quality digital images acceptable to providers and radiologists.
• Adhere strictly to radiation safety standards to protect patients, self, and others.
• Operate and troubleshoot radiology diagnostic equipment effectively.
• Follow radiology protocols for positioning, technique, and safety tailored to patient age groups.
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately.
• Maintain laboratory competencies as required by CLIA, AAFP, and other regulatory bodies.
• Participate in proficiency evaluations initially and annually.
• Demonstrate proficiency in splinting, phlebotomy, urine drug screening, EKG testing, and other technical clinic skills.

Medication Administration

• Administer medications as directed by providers and document accordingly in the EMR.
• Ensure pharmaceutical distribution records comply with regulatory and state standards.

Supplies Management

• Order clinic supplies from approved vendors to maintain required inventory levels.
• Use supplies efficiently and responsibly.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a Limited or Associate Degree Radiology Technologist program; Associate Degree preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, procedural, and diagnostic coding.
• Proficient computer user.
• Basic Life Support certification, obtainable upon hire if not already held.
• Tuberculin Screening Tester Certification, obtainable upon hire if not already held.
• At least one year of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in family medicine, orthopedics, or immediate care.

Licensure/Certifications

• Must be certified by the relevant state health department.

Work Shift: Varied shifts with approximately 24 scheduled weekly hours.

This position is located in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
