Job Summary: We are seeking Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Qualified Medical Assistants (QMA), or Medical Assistants (MA) interested in supplemental, part-time work as an Assistant Resident Care Aide. This role offers flexible, as-needed scheduling with typical hours ranging from 8 to 16 biweekly, plus additional opportunities to cover sick or vacation shifts across all three shifts.

Purpose of Position: This position involves performing limited nursing, environmental, and nutritional tasks to support and maintain the health and well-being of residents in a county-operated residence home located in the Midwest region of the United States.

Essential Functions:

• Administer and document medication reminders and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Assist residents with special needs and measure vital signs as required.
• Order medications under the direction of the Care Team Coordinator.
• Prepare monthly summaries and maintain accurate resident charts.
• Conduct periodic resident checks and transport residents to medical appointments.
• Maintain clean living environments and collaborate with staff to provide nutritionally balanced meals and snacks.

Non-Essential Functions:

• Perform cooking duties as needed.
• Maintain daily records of residents’ activities and conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Qualification Requirements:

• Preferred certification as a Qualified Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to maintain routine health records and files accurately.
• Competence in administering medications and simple medical procedures such as taking blood pressure and temperature.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to interpret menus and food preparation instructions.
• Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with residents and staff.

Responsibilities:

Work involves routine record keeping with a high degree of accuracy. Medication administration is closely monitored, requiring strict adherence to physician instructions. Supervisory oversight and cross-checking with pharmacists and physicians ensure safety and accuracy. Errors could have significant adverse effects on residents.

Working Relationships:

Collaborate with supervisors, department associates, residents, physicians, and pharmacists to provide comprehensive care and support.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

Work is performed in a home-like nursing environment with direct physical contact with residents. Some exposure to dirt and grease may occur during environmental and nutritional tasks.
