Job Summary: This Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist role is dedicated to supporting clinical learners and healthcare teams by advocating for and implementing professional development programs and curricula. The specialist plays a vital role in fostering professional growth and competence across various clinical settings through strategic planning and educational support based on needs assessments, regulatory requirements, quality data, and leadership guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Onboarding and Orientation: Develop, coordinate, and evaluate comprehensive onboarding and orientation programs for nursing and healthcare personnel.
• Competency Management: Assess, document, and support staff competencies, addressing any gaps to ensure team proficiency.
• Educational Initiatives: Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs targeting practice gaps to improve knowledge, skills, and clinical practice outcomes. Collaborate interprofessionally to support continuing education.
• Collaborative Partnerships: Serve as a liaison and educator for nurses and other learners, fostering partnerships within and beyond the organization.
• Inquiry and Improvement: Engage in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement projects to enhance healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
• Role Development: Promote continuous professional growth using established models and standards, ensuring adherence to the Scope and Standards of NPD Practice.

Scope and Standards of Practice:

1. Assessment: Gather relevant data on individual, unit, and system performance.
2. Diagnosis: Analyze data to identify practice gaps and underlying issues.
3. Outcome Identification: Define desired outcomes tailored to specific needs.
4. Planning: Develop collaborative strategies to achieve goals.
5. Implementation: Coordinate and promote wellness through educational strategies.
6. Evaluation: Monitor progress toward outcomes.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred or must be obtained within three years of hire.
• Preferred experience in Nursing Professional Development; alternatively, 3-5 years of nursing experience in acute care or healthcare settings.
• Current nursing licensure required.
• Certification in Nursing Professional Development preferred or must be obtained within two years.
• Instructor status for programs such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, and CPI is required or must be maintained.

Work Shift: First shift, full-time, approximately 36 hours per week.

This position is located in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
