This role involves collaborating closely with anesthesia providers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support patients before, during, and after endoscopic procedures.

General Summary: As a Registered Nurse in Endoscopy, you will deliver direct patient care across diverse populations, ensuring thorough assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions throughout the intra-operative period. You will maintain clear communication with gastroenterology, internal medicine, surgical teams, and anesthesiology to optimize patient outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Uphold National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by regulatory agencies.
• Review patient charts to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
• Provide patient education tailored to individual learning needs and assess its effectiveness.
• Offer consistent verbal reassurance and clear explanations to patients.
• Identify and respond promptly to physical symptoms and changes in patient condition.
• Demonstrate competency in administering moderate sedation and cardiac monitoring, recognizing dysrhythmias.
• Apply sound clinical judgment based on disease knowledge and patient care requirements.
• Maintain strict medical and surgical asepsis during procedures.
• Promote patient dignity, comfort, and safety by addressing physiological and psychological needs.
• Exhibit flexibility, organization, and teamwork; assist in orienting new staff members.
• Participate actively in quality assurance and continuing education programs.
• Maintain open communication with nursing and healthcare teams.
• Ensure a safe, clean environment by following infection control protocols and SGNA guidelines.
• Manage endoscopy instruments and accessories, performing troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.
• Follow manufacturer and SGNA recommendations for cleaning and disinfecting equipment, demonstrating annual competency.

Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience: At least one year of acute care nursing experience is preferred.

Certifications/Licenses: Current RN license in a Compact State or the relevant state license. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This role demands considerable mental focus, with physical activities including lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
