Job Summary

The Emergency Department Educator develops orientation and ongoing training for nurses, technicians, coordinators, and agency personnel. This position ensures all team members maintain competency in emergency protocols, clinical procedures, and the use of new medical technologies. The educator also facilitates certification courses such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, BLS, and MANDT, and organizes simulation drills for critical care scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Create and deliver comprehensive orientation programs for emergency staff.
• Conduct continuous training sessions on emergency care best practices and equipment.
• Lead certification and continuing education initiatives.
• Collaborate on simulation-based training and emergency drills.
• Assess clinical competencies through observation and skill validation.
• Provide individualized coaching to address areas for improvement.
• Assist in developing protocols for trauma, stroke, cardiac, and sepsis care.
• Stay informed on the latest advancements in emergency medicine.
• Partner with leadership on quality improvement and workflow optimization.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for staff.
• Participate in patient safety and quality initiatives.

Education

Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 3-5 years in emergency nursing; prior experience in nursing education or clinical instruction is advantageous.

Licensure/Certification

Current RN license in the practicing state. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, and NIHSS. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) credential is a plus.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role demands significant mental focus and physical activity, including lifting up to 35 lbs, standing, walking, and various movements such as stooping and reaching.

Working Conditions

Exposure to infectious and communicable diseases is frequent. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur. The position follows a Monday-Friday schedule with potential evening or weekend hours based on training needs.
