As an Assistant Patient Care Technician, you will work under the guidance of licensed nurses to deliver direct care that enhances patient safety and comfort.

General Summary

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or shift manager, you will assist with vital patient care tasks, ensuring a safe and healing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes.
• Perform basic care duties such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and effectively, enhancing overall patient experience.
• Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making and quality outcomes.
• Communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve care coordination.

Education

High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

One year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

Certification/License

If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, attendance at a Patient Care Assistant training academy is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and bending.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
