As a Medical Assistant, you will support licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers by performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks.

General Summary

This role involves delivering patient care within your scope, ensuring safety, accuracy, and professionalism. You will be responsible for vital sign collection, EKGs, medication verification, and documenting patient histories while maintaining excellent communication with patients and providers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control and safe patient handling.
• Escort patients, obtain vital signs, perform point-of-care testing, and assist with medication administration as ordered.
• Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, managing phone communications and follow-up calls.
• Schedule appointments, procedures, and complete necessary authorizations and referrals promptly.
• Maintain exam room supplies and assist in patient education, including enrollment in patient portals.
• Support orientation and training of new medical assistants and contribute positively to team dynamics.

Education

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program is required, or equivalent experience. A high school diploma is mandatory.

Experience

At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role is preferred, especially in a clinical setting.

Certification and Licenses

• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, standing, walking, and various movements such as stooping and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with challenging individuals may occur. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
