General Summary

The Techretary plays a key role in patient care by following established safety protocols, assisting licensed nurses with basic clinical tasks, and managing essential administrative duties to support the emergency department's daily functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to patient safety policies including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
• Maintain an organized and efficient work environment.
• Support unit operations through filing, printing, copying, charge entry, and supply management.
• Assist with patient room assignments and maintain unit-specific logs.
• Prepare patient charts for scanning by labeling forms with identification stickers.
• Perform limited patient care tasks such as taking vital signs, glucometer checks, and specimen collection under nurse supervision.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to promptly respond to patient needs and enhance care quality.
• Keep quality logs current and communicate effectively with department management and team members.
• Handle phone communications professionally and coordinate scheduling of tests and procedures with ancillary departments.
• Adapt positively to changes while upholding organizational mission and values.
• Follow all policies regarding appearance, behavior, and attendance.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience

At least one year of patient care experience is required.

Certification and Licenses

• BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.
• Basic Arrhythmia Class completion is mandatory.
• Accucheck training is required.
• CNA certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Mental and Physical Requirements
