As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you will work under the supervision of licensed nurses to support patients' basic needs and contribute to a safe, healing environment.

General Summary

Under the guidance of an RN, LPN, or shift manager, the PCA delivers direct patient care, ensuring safety and comfort while assisting with daily activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
• Perform basic care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, toileting, feeding, bathing, and assisting with patient activities.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to promptly respond to patient needs and enhance their overall experience.
• Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making.
• Communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve outcomes.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience

One year of experience and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.

Certification/License

If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, attendance at a PCA training academy is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental/Physical Requirements

Requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
